Andreas Asproftas attended Medical School at the University of Athens (1937-1940) and followed on his studies with music (graduate of the Athens National Conservatory, 1960). In the years 1967-1968 he studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia, Italy. His work was greatly influenced by the paintings of T. Kanthou. He had an impressionist style to his work as well as attributes common to painters depicting the countryside, often combining the landscape with representations of the human figure. Asproftas’ paintings characterize a trend towards simplification of form.
