Dimitris Constantinou studied at the Italian Technical School Don Bosco in Alexandria, taking ‘artistic metallurgy’ («arte in ferro battuto») taught by A. Giannoti. This unique subject and artistic study endorsed by Constantinou later determined his career as a sculptor to a great extent. The basic characteristics of his works include the simplicity of form, the clearly perceived masonry of the structure, the emphasis on rhythmic rotation of levels, the harmonious development of volume and the clarity of the whole. He was interested in capturing movement in his sculpted pieces; he used his imagination to effectuate this process.
